In the hot seat with...

Peter, Production and Logistics

Can you tell us a little about your background please?

I studied for a Masters in Precision Mechanics. Prior to joining Mynaric I had been at my previous company for a long time. I moved up the ladder while there: starting as a junior worker, gaining more responsibility (and I liked this as I like to pull the strings!) and seeing more than just what you are working on.

And that is what I like about working here: There are challenges every day and no two days are the same. Things need to be organized, with procurement, for example, and you need to always bear in mind the bigger picture. There are big challenges and you have to find solutions to them but when you do – and we always do! – that’s a great feeling.

So you must have a good team to help solve all these problems?

The team I have is great. It is really easy to work with the people in our team. I don’t have to give lots of orders all day, every day – we talk together and split the workload and it makes life so much simpler and with a good team, like we have, I think it is easy to then grow into a larger team.

One of the greatest things I have noticed since starting here is how we work together. There are no barriers because of age, sex, nationality. Everybody is happy to work together – there is such a good feeling and really strong morale. Everyone is helpful and polite. Even on challenging, difficult days we keep a smile on our face and always have a joke – that’s the grease that oils the machine.

And what are your responsibilities?

My responsibility is to oversee the ramp up from prototype to product. I also have to keep an eye on what can we improve with regard to production and assembly as well as spotting efficiencies and improving cost-effectiveness. This works as a feedback loop to other parts of the company: engineering, procurement etc.

What makes you happy?

Workwise, it is having the chance to be with Mynaric more or less from the start. I believe we will become a great company. We are seeing lots of changes already: new building, new products – its great to have been one of the first members of staff and see this growth and share in its success from the beginning to the end.

How do you relax outside of work?

Playing with the kids. That’s what helps me take my mind off work when I need it. I play with them with their building blocks and Lego and we just sit there together and make things and totally focus on playing and nothing else and this brings me back to Earth!
